The Feast of the Seven Fishes is an Italian-American Christmas Eve dinner tradition. It’s a feast style meal that contains seven or more seafood dishes, which can come in any form or flavour. Since we love seafood here on the North Coast, especially on a hot summer’s day (with a cold glass of wine in hand), we thought this type of feast would be a perfect way to celebrate any occasion during the festive season, and a perfect opportunity to offer you a little festive inspiration. Seafood feasts are synonymous with big gatherings of friends and family, as is the holiday period in general, so, what could be better! To help with the day’s culinary celebrations, we asked Jackie Cameron for some recommendations. She was more than up to the task supplying us with two incredible recipes that we couldn’t wait to make… and trust us, you shouldn’t wait either. They are surprisingly easy to make and absolutely delicious. In this edition we also incorporated a few additional ‘secret’ recipes, which are sure to add a whole lot of flavour and fun to your summer parties! Our ‘feast’ was an unequivocal success, due in no small part to the incredible collaboration by extremely talented individuals who we highly recommend. In addition to Jackie Cameron, a very special thank you must go out to Cindy Rynhoud for her beautiful flowers and creative table setting mind and Kate Armstrong who made and plated all the amazing food. Our thanks are also extended to our wine and champagne guru Liezl Richards for her wine pairing recommendations (including a certified organic Avondale Armilla Methode Cap Classique 2012* and a crisp and vibrant Gabrielskloof Sauvignon Blanc), to Kerriden Webb for her incredible cake, the ladies at Beachsand in the Ballito Junction who lent us the beachy décor and Paul Chapman from Beach House Furniture who custom made our table.
